Thinking about what I do in my work day it's hard to explain just what I do in a single sentence or two. Perhaps I'll start by saying that serials are not always an easy part of the collection to manage because of their changing nature. Included in this mix is government publications where each election has an effect on the publications we receive. And increasingly we are dealing with digital publications and trying to be responsive to user expectations with regards to this format.

A key role for our team is the collection of serial Legal Deposits, while at the same time sourcing purchase and donated serial publications.

But that's not to say that we don't take advantage of the changes in communications where we can. Google helps us to find library suppliers, changing procedures are added to our wiki. One of my most used tools is e-mail.

Second attempt at getting started ...

I thought I had successfully started my blog, but it vanished along with any recollections of the addreses and passwords I had used in the process. So to begin again ...

An obvious starting point is to explain the blog name - for those without a knowledge of library terms the serials I am referring to are not soap operas, or breakfast foods but the challenging publishing format of journals, newsletters, newspapers, annual reports and government publications.
